About Me

Hello!

I'm Ian, a 25 year old from Eugene, Oregon USA and currently live in Seattle. I recently graduated from University with dual majors in Economics and German Language. I am transitioning to new work in Seattle and have spent a majority of my life living up and down the west coast of the US.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new, interesting people in new, interesting places! I vastly prefer experiencing places as a local would rather than doing only touristy things. Pushing my cultural boundaries has served me well in the past so I'd like to continue the trend.

Interests

I like music, cooking, hiking, bicycling, working out, delicious beer, video games, speaking German, and pretending I know what I'm talking about with economic issues. I'm a big fan of collegiate (american) football and like to also follow the MLS (Major League Soccer) and Bundesliga.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really enjoy rock, electronic, hip-hop, and reggae in both German and English. Things like Slightly Stoopid, Seeed, Bilderbuch, Snakehips, Pretty Lights, Led Zeppelin, Chance the Rapper, The Black Keys, Disclosure, Fettes Brot, etc. I think you get the picture.

Movies is a pretty wide area for me, I'm down for most anything.

Currently reading:
- Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
- Er Ist Wieder Da by Timur Vermes
- Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been thrown through a window.

I've lived from the bottom (Los Angeles) to the top (Seattle) of the west coast, USA.

I sailed for 2 weeks from Seattle into the San Juan Islands in BC, Canada.

I've climbed the Great Wall (staircase) of China.

I've visited the DMZ border between the Koreas.

I've had way too much Tequila in Mexico.

I once puked on a sea turtle in Hawaii from seasickness.

I studied for 5 months at the University in Heidelberg, DE.

I've partied in the desert outside of Giza.

I've been to the top of the tallest building in the world in Dubai.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you English, some German, basic economic principles, how to cook some fantastic dishes, and who knows what else!

I'd love to learn how to cook dishes you find tasty!
