ABOUT ME
I am a second and third grade teacher in Denver Public Schools. It's been the most rewarding career I could have asked for, in a great city where positive change is happening. I spend almost all my time either enjoying time at home with my wife and dog, working, skiing, running, or hiking. I love the outdoors more than anything. I care a lot about the environment, and I do quite a few things to protect it, but not nearly as much as I should. I read widely, and would love to talk about books/ideas/philosophy/politics with people who won't get angry about disagreement. I keep up on the news, and I try to base my opinions on each situation, rather than adhering to one dogma or another.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm an Oregonian, a tree-hugger, a pragmatist, a lover of culture/nature/travel, and I'm not easy to put in a box. Unless it measures about 72"x30"x12". I want things to be better, but I resist the temptation to get too worked up about something that will not or cannot change. My opinions are often expressed strongly, but an argument with me is not the ending, but rather the beginning of a friendship. I'm living in Denver, Colorado right now, teaching for America. Still waiting to fully realize my human potential.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am still fairly new to CS and want to continue hosting people to meet new people from all over the place. I have been getting more involved recently and hosted about 5 people since the year started. I have couchsurfed a few times on a road trip to California this Spring Break, and I had some great experiences that I couldn't possibly have come by on my own. It just keeps getting better. Now I'm hooked and looking to CouchSurf the US and Europe this summer.

I would love to help people explore the mountains around here in any season. The more people who know how to enjoy the outdoors, the more that our society will be willing to protect our environment.
