About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be alive with fury and wonder.

ABOUT ME

I love to learn and am always willing to look at things another way and accept that everyone doesn't think like I do. That's why I love to travel! I study anthropology (cultural, applied, medical) which I love and hope to bring these perspectives with me as a physician.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that people (at least in the United States) are influenced by modern media, and our capitalist society to the point that they live unfullfilling lifestyles, constantly trying to make money to buy things they don't need in competition with their fellow neighbors. They(we) are constantly smothered by our consumer culture that we believe the most important thing in life is fast cars, big televisions, and expensive clothes. In fact, I believe the most fulfilling things in life are not material at all but are our relationships with ourselves and the people around us and turning our own dreams and ambitions into reality.

Another aspect of my personal beliefs is that those of us whom are privileged enough to grow up and live with a luxurious lifestyle (Americans), it should be our duty and responsibility to help and give as much as we can to those who weren't so lucky in the lottery of birth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe that everyone's opinion is valid and everyone views the world because of their own experiences within it. In order to be truly wise it is necessary to understand and have compassion for everyone's opinions, even if I don't agree with them. The reason I love traveling is because it gives me an opportunity to understand how different people think and how they understand the world. Listening to a story, and telling my own is how I participate.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first Couch Surfing experience was in Krakow, Poland where I was invited to a Couch Surfing/ Hospitality club meeting. I didn't know what Couch Surfing was but I met someone who lived in my next destination. Everyone was very open and willing to talk to complete strangers and in one night I made several new friends and met people from all over the world. This was a great get together but was the doorway into a new lifestyle. Come 2010 another surfer and I are being hosted in Peru. He was looking to move to Denver after his travels and now he lives in my house!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have ridden on my bike for 30 days straight hundreds of miles in France with all my possessions on my bike at the age of 9 with my parents. It rained every fucking day we rode our bikes.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn French! I know way too much about fitness and sports training but my favorite thing to share is my smile. :)
