About Me
CURRENT MISSION
scrounge up enough money to support myself for a one month trip to at least 3 european countries and not have to depend on my company to have me continuously shuttled between shanghai and some other city and consider that as "travel"...
ABOUT ME
i've been in China for 9 years now and it's been grand. there comes a point in living in another country where one has to ask one's self, "do i stay or do i move?" so far, i haven't gotten to that point yet.
currently taking up a master's degree with Duke University, it's half online half in-class. have to travel with the program, so far been to London, Dubai and Delhi... thank god i'm on a scholarship!
PHILOSOPHY
you can be very special by doing very ordinary things in very odd ways
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
island hopping in the philippines (for free!)... got my clothes sent to a turkish dry cleaners (for free!)... had a free walking tour of athens with an actual licensed tour guide (for free!)... why talk about previous experiences? i'm looking forward to the next one!
Interests
i like munching on ice cubes and tube ice (and single malt whiskey), watching movies (after a few shots of vodka), making (guinness) stew, and meeting new people (over a pint of something)...
books and movies. i don't really watch TV, and the crap that's coming out of the radio now is either substitute music, or insta-music. neither of which i am particularly fond off... so i just tune in to my ipod and listen to the golden oldies.

Music, Movies, and Books
anything worth my time... like i said, i live on books and movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
it changes from week to week... done some pretty amazing/stupid stuff... like falling out of a moving taxi cab, getting run over by a taxi cab, getting stuck in a mountain overnight without food or water... most recently i fell out of a 2nd floor window...
Teach, Learn, Share
- DVDs bought in China, and taken out of their packets and put into CD cases are considered private property and cannot be legally searched by customs officials unless given a reason to. buy tons, act innocent, sell them at a profit when you get back home. LOL!!!
- cheap local spices and herbs are magically turn into expensive, exotic gifts when they go across at least 4 time zones...
- english teaching is a very good way to get out of a financial bind... especially in asia.
- when travelling, always bring dental floss, an extra pair of tighty whities, and of course, a towel
- try and go to church at least once every 3 months... not only to pray that your quarterly sales targets are reached, but also because it's good for your soul
