About Me

Actually 31, not 34. Won't let me change my age ..

CURRENT MISSION

I'm currently traveling to blow off some steam and meet new people. I wanted a change from the ordinary.

ABOUT ME

I'm a software engineer originally from Indiana. I live in Philadelphia. I like to travel, as do we all. I've lived all over the world (Germany, Kosovo, Albania, Kuwait) and tried to learn the languages when I did so. Meeting cool people is probably my favorite part...after the food of course! I haven't turned down trying anything new in as long as I can remember, so if you've got some strange local delicacy you'd like to share...I'm game. I'm a nerd and enjoy anything tech-related, science fiction or fantasy. Video games, good booze, new food, spicy things, and volleyball are some favorite things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's way more interesting than a generic hotel you could experience absolutely anywhere...a room is a room. The people you meet during your travels are as unique and varied as the places themselves. What's not to love about getting to meet the people who make those places so special?

Please Read:
After hosting a good number of people, I wanted to add this. I've done both Couchsurfing and AirBnb, so I know what the difference is. One I ddo for money (or privacy / convenience when I'm being hosted), and the other I do for the experience (and admittedly, it's frugal as a traveler). If someone wants to stay at my house with CS, it tells me they want that too. So let's go do something: talk, have a drink, play a boardgame, watch a movie, paint a painting, play tennis. I've had a few people come and proceed to just sit around on their phone, or talk amongst themselves in their native language. That's for AirBnb. If you plan on doing that, please talk to someone else. What I'm getting at is: I'm not saying I'm going to be hovering around or anything, I'm just saying I don't feel like coming in and using my place as just a crash pad is in line with the idea behind this wonderful place.

Also: if your travels include a Monday arrival at my house, please be prepared to be here before 9, or to not have too much stuff on you and meet me and my friends at our weekly quizzo (bar trivia) game. This is often preceded with copious drinking, and proceeded by dancing.

If you read all this, please include "Vegan Cheese" in your message.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once took a secret door in Dracula's castle and went up an old and dirty tower until popping out unsuspectingly where all of the regular people were again.

Teach, Learn, Share

My house is covered in paintings I made, and others I found or had gifted to me. However, if you like the ones I made, and the weather is right for it, I can possibly show you how to do them if we have time.

I love to cook, and would love to cook together. I am always learning new ways and things to cook, so please, feel free to show me what you've got!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you some of the dishes I know how to cook. I'm a tech person so I can (sometimes) fix tech problems. I know how to make rugs, but unfortunately don't have my loom to teach. I have lived in Philly for a few years now, and I know some good times here for sure. More so on weekdays as I prefer those crowds, though. I also love camping and hiking, so if you're ever in the mood to switch it up, and it's above freezing, let's go.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation, Scotland, Serbia, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Vatican City State
