About Me

Hello! My name is Ian McCartor. I'm a fine artist, travel nurse, singer/songwriter, and one of my greatest loves in life is connection through travel and music.

Working in the medical field has left me with a classic, but powerful reality I remember in my adventures: "Life is short, and tomorrow is never guaranteed."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My most recent hosts while I was living down in Encinitas, California recommended it to me when I talked to them about my latest trip I was planning for Europe. I've heard great things about the people on Couchsurfing!

My personal preference is staying with locals when I travel, as this lets me connect with the culture more, gain deeper inspiration for my music, and of course - make great new friends!

Interests

I compose and produce "World Fusion" music as I travel to different countries. The stories from people I meet, the traditions of the country, the flavors of the native music all inspire the projects I work on. I have 2 new collections I'm seeking inspiration for as a venture through Spain, France, and Greece this coming trip.

My music can be found on iTunes, Spotify, and my website IanMcCartor.com.

My other focuses include my practice as a Registered Nurse here in California, studying fine art, philosophy, theology and psychology.

(Fine wine and dining is also on my hit list!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Of course, it's a great pleasure to share my stories and music with my hosts. As I work on new songs in the place I travel, I love to involve my new friends in the process of creating the music. Inspiration is everywhere!

I also teach life drawing, do quite a bit of cooking, and enjoy great conversation anytime.
