Our goal with couch surfing is to provide a safe, friendly space for travelers passing through south Florida.

ABOUT US:

Ian spends much of his time on the computer browsing the Internet, working on designs, finding new music, reading/learning, and of course, playing lots of video games. Claire works as a personal assistant and is a passionate host of our guests. She enjoys reading, gardening, Harry Potter and Disney.

We enjoy natural hobbies like gardening, bonsai and suiseki stones, collecting bones and horns, minerals, plants, etc. and we also collect a lot of artwork, limited prints and originals. We both enjoy photography and Claire does some modeling as well.

Ian is a paraplegic from a car accident when he was 12. He is completely independent and is a mentor for the state of florida for new spinal cord injuries. He also serves on the board of the SCISG Miami chapter.

Going out to eat is probably our favorite social activity. We love to eat at new restaurants and food is a big passion. So if you have time during your stay, we'd like to take you out for some local food and chat! We are also members at a few beautiful gardens in the area and would enjoy taking you to experience those places.

We love animals, donate to a variety of dog rescues. We currently have a little male mutt named Hans.

ABOUT YOUR STAY:

You will be staying in our private guest room with a twin-size day bed with trundle that sleeps two comfortably. The room has closet space and drawers. There is a flat screen TV with cable. Immediate access to private guest bathroom with shower and bathtub. Towels will be provided. Access to exercise/office room and WiFi throughout the house. All bedding, blankets and pillows provided are new or cleaned prior to arrival.

There is a hot tub and swimming pool as well as a garden for outdoor leisure. Computers are available for e-mail and other use with crazy fast internet. Full kitchen access with electronic range and available space in refrigerator/freezer.

THE AREA:

We are five minutes from Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, five minutes from the train station, eight minutes from the bus station. Uber is available in the area and normal city buses and taxis run 24/7. We are located in a quiet neighborhood that is safe to walk in and is within walking distance of a grocery store, Winn Dixie, restaurants and some basic shopping. We are ten minutes from Fort Lauderdale beach.

Ian saw the aurora borealis over a lake in Wisconsin a few years ago. Claire drove across the USA form Florida to California.

Through Ian's past businesses, he knows a lot of practical knowledge about the music industry. He also knows about the screen printing business and is very familiar with design software and computers.

Claire has a wealth of information for any travelers planning to visit the Disney or Universal parks as well as cooking tips and recipes, local shopping, retail knowledge, event planning, modeling, etc.

We have yet to be hosted on any of our travels as we typically use hotels due to accessibility issues for Ian. Perhaps one day!
