About Me

I'm a computational scientist, software engineer, and technology consultant. I live in Upstate New York with my wife and two kids. I love spending time outdoors camping, canoeing, and hiking in my free time and vacations. For sports I love all things on two wheels: road cycling, mountain biking, motorcycling, dirt biking. In the winter XC skiing is where you'll find me on the weekends, sometimes downhill skiing at our local hills.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting people, and I spent enough of my life effectively broke that I’m still a cheapskate at heart!

Interests

Besides math and science (passion and day job), I love cycling, skiing, sailing, climbing, and going for runs with my wife. I love to read but do too little of it these days. I also love working on my car.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Zach Bryan. Movies: Bond, James Bond. Books: SciFi/Fantasy or contemporary geopolitical/economic commentary.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve raised two kids to be responsible and globally minded human beings! Definitely my biggest achievement. But I also built part of the global distributed computing infrastructure for CERN during my PhD, which was pretty cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

These days I try to listen more than talk. But when I’m talking it’s on one of these subjects: AI (I’m a computational scientist), ham radio (going back to my electrical engineering roots, but also fully decentralized technology and communications), and dual sport motorbiking (the more dirt the better — pavement is only a necessary evil).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Give me a job to do and I’ll do it. One place I stayed I took on the stove. 16 lovely people in a commune, but I don’t think one of them had seriously tried cleaning that thing in a decade. You could see the enamel when I was done!

Countries I’ve Visited
