About Me

I'm Iara, the name is Brazilian but I'm 100% Portuguese. I work at Turismo de Portugal, at the Irish office, and I'm graduated in social communication. Though my main interests are communication, languages and cinema. I also am deeply in love with cooking, traveling, music, European cinema and above all knowledge, not the type of knowledge that you get from book, but the one you get from life, from traveling, from opening your horizon, from knowing people and their stories, their culture and their believes. Sharing my own stories, culture and believes along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel and meet new people on the way and couchsurfing it's the perfect place for me to start my journey as a traveler. I went to Paris in 2015 and even though I found it a beautiful city, something went missing, I could not found the essence of the real Paris, the thing that only Parisians know, like the best coffee shop, the typical restaurant or the best view over the town. And so, I joined Couchsurfing, not only for a place to stay, but also for a fellow friend able to show me the real stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books

Without a doubt, my favorite singer of all times is the amazing Janis Joplin. Apart from her I'm also fan of The Doors, The Beatles, Nina Simone, Pink Floyd, Queen, Caetano Veloso and many more.
The last movie that really touched me, was Victoria, a German movie about a girl that moves from Barcelona to Berlin. Others movies of my list are Persona, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, The Fall, La vita è bella, The Shinning, and so many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped into the rapids of a river in Turkey.
