ABOUT ME

Grew up around the world, have couch surfed in war zones (although not through this site, but through friends) while volunteering for aid work. Previous lives as painter, corporate monkey and farmer. Occasionally reincarnate myself into any one of them. I'm an incurable and incorrigible dreamer. I love a glorious sunset. Likewise nights lit bright as day by a full moon. I love to travel, meeting and making friends along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have very often been the recipient of kindness, in the form of a couch or even guest bedroom. I look to of course pay back in my way, with the offering of hospitality either at my home in Switzerland, or if I happen to be elsewhere, wherever I am. It is after all the way of my people, and is in my blood - my ancestors having built Caravanserais and hosted people along the silk road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing in Sadr City, Baghdad in 2003. A bit of a thrill to hear sporadic gunfire and bombs. to know any day could be your last, gave a special feeling to the present.

Interests

Books, languages, people. People who can do good in the face of adversity. Who appreciate and are grateful for the wonders of life, despite having the hardest life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Eclectic taste that sometimes changes more often than the wind. Some off the top of my head that I just listened to M.I.A. (Kala), Tricky, DJ Tiesto, Sacha & Digweed, Tupac, Roisin Murphy, Chicane. Most movies, particularly indies. Any book that can capture my attention for more than 10 pages.

a double 360 (also known as a 720) on my bmx back when I was a kid. You can see where the beginnings of my bone breaking ways originated...
