COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed in London when I was attending Bloc 2012 as a member of the press, and in Asheville, NC while attending Moogfest 2012.

Interests

Almost as much as I love science, engineering, and applied biology.

I have a love/hate relationship with namedropping, so I'll stick to themes and characteristics. Ask me for specifics!

Music: If I had to narrow it down to a couple of key categories, it'd be:
- electronic
- trip-hop; both of the UK/Bristol/Manchester and sample-heavy US varieties
- mathy, drum-heavy post-rock
- well-produced hip-hop
- film soundtracks and contemporary classical music
- jazz and jazz fusion
- south Indian classical (Carnatic) music
- metal, mostly of the stoner, sludge, and post- varieties

Books: Utopias and dystopias. Mutterings from the Beat Generation. Hallucinatory portrayals of the implications of technology on the environment and society-at-large. The fluidity of memory. Transgression.

Movies: Mindfuck. Film noir. Spaghetti and acid westerns. Synergistic soundtracks. Black comedy. Postmodern romance. Beautiful color.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen a storm rise, as if from the depths of the oceans (Pacific, Indian, and Arabian Sea) itself, as it raced towards my insignificant body on the shores of Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India.
