About Me

Hey freinds!
Things about me:
I am a storyteller! I write stories for theatre. I write stories for children. I dance, direct and act. I document life.
Or at least, that's something I'm trying to do.
Born and grew up in Taiwan. A native Chinese speaker.
Currently staying in USA for UT Austin's M.F.A. playwriting program.

Secret wish: I wanted to write things that create magic for children. I wanted to do good things for education, for the environment, for people I love and care.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Dear friend who I haven't met,

I come to you not just because I really need a place to stay. (Yes I really need a place to stay.) I come to you because I am interested in people. I believe in people.
Not every stranger could be a good friend.
Not every stranger could be the one to share mutual interests.
Not every stranger could be a good storyteller.
Not every stranger could be a good cultural embassador.
But I have faith in that. I try to be sincere. And I'd love to share.
I am a good listener as well.

Thank you for trusting me.

Best and many thanks,
me

Music, Movies, and Books

Folk music. Celtic. Nick Cave. Olafur Arnold. Old french songs by Edith Piaf. Cuban music. Some Sia. Some Adelle.

Cult films.Weird films. Sci-fi. Stop motion. Pixar animation!

Neil Gaiman. Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tales. A lot of fantasy. A lot of picture books. Maybe classic literature...?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I came to the United States alone to learn to be a better playwright 20 days after my brain surgery. It was the same surgery I had 12 years ago. All hair gone then.
I came to the states by wheel chair but now I can run as fast as wind. (Well. Maybe not. I am a bad runner...)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hey friends! I produce stories and do theatre! That's what I do! (or at least that's what I'm trying to do.)
If you'd love some theatrical experience, I can lead some intersting theatre exercises with you! It'll be like a little performance between you and me. It'll be fun. It'll be interactive. It'll bring joy.

If we have enough time --if you're patient for me--I can write your own customized stories. A story in which you as the protagonist. Fairy tale. Fantasy. Sci-fi. Fan-fiction. Romantics (Hard. but I can try.) In English and in Chinese. Dialogue. Monologue. Give me something and I can try to come up with a story for you! (Sometimes it takes longer than hours to have one good story--it all depends--but if you'd like to wait for me, let's try!)

Or...
I cook! If you like Asian food, let me cook something good to share with you! Vege or not vege! Tea eggs, fried rice, noodle salad...

Or...
If you want to learn Chinese! I was a teacher before. I studied linguistics. If you're interested in learning traditional Chinese characters, let's do it!
