About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the world, meet new people, eat and drink well, and discover new ways of life on this tiny planet.

ABOUT ME

My name is Iain. I’m a Scottish musician/traveller/adventurer/dreamer. I used to live in Glasgow, but the rain depressed me. So I left in search of something a little less… grey.

PHILOSOPHY

A ship in port is safe; but that's not what ships were built for.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed just once so far, and my host was great. I've also met up with a few people from this site, and all of my experiences so far have been unforgettable. I don't have my own place at the moment because I move around so much, but I'm looking forward to hosting like-minded travellers when I do!

Interests

I love music of all types. It's my real passion. Of course I also love travelling the world (doesn't everyone on here?), as well as a whole load of other stuff that I could talk about for much longer than this space will let me...

  • yoga
  • running
  • meditation
  • drinking
  • technology
  • traveling
  • music
  • sports
  • languages
  • film
  • vegan food
  • bass guitar

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favourite movies include: The Shawshank Redemption, Into the Wild, The Chumscrubber, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and The Motorcycle Diaries.

I love all kinds of music and what I'm listening to usually depends on my mood. I really love heavy music, but then I also really love lots of chilled out instrumental electronica kind of stuff, blues, jazz, and some of my favourite artists are mostly acoustic as well. I like a little bit of everything!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a good knowledge of Scottish whisky! That counts, right? I've also been a musician and sound engineer for over 10 years, and I would be happy to teach the basics to anyone who wanted to learn.

I'm always wanting to learn new things - whether it be learning how to cook new dishes, or get travel advice, or learn new languages - it's all important to me!
