i grew up with time split between sg, hk and mainland china (mostly sg and hk) and am familiar with culture and/or politics, i love exchanging different perspectives and meeting new people

i recently picked up a motorbike license and am interested in eventually touring and short overland trips. i’m also really interested in local food in the places i visit, and am always down for an exploratory food tour or chat over food and/or a drink! or day hikes and long walks - there isn’t much hiking (if at all) back home, so i’d love company to wander around with

i’m curious about the people i meet, and look forward to exchanging views on culture and experiences :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

for the friends! (they make the travel) and the opportunity to really get to know a place - while i don’t expect to fully ever be able to grasp a place like a local, i believe that places are made by the people who inhabit them and couchsurfing allows for that kind of meetings

i’ve met great friends through CS meetups and hangouts in shanghai and hong kong, and that’s encouraged me to continue exploring with this community :)

the majority of my trips are planned along the lines of visiting friends in different cities/countries, for now at least

Music, Movies, and Books

i enjoy alternative and punk rock, prog rock, jazz fusion, and exploring the underground and/or local music scene! i’m not really into the party nightlife scene, but catch me in a chill bar over drinks or cafe for interesting conversation anytime

i enjoy non-fiction - particularly on current/international affairs (partly for work), biographies and history! i used to read a historical fiction but that’s fallen to the side a bit recently

i’m not the biggest film connoisseur but i do like wong kar wai’s films. i tend to seek our independent films - a recent favourite of mine would be saturday fiction, an award-winning film set in wartime shanghai
