ABOUT ME

I'm definitely a workaholic. I think I'm borderline ADD. Good thing, though. Pretty productive, and definitely balance it all out with my share of partying.

I currently wear 5 billion hats, but I'll give you a couple of them: I teach at the University, I'm in charge of all of the math tutors at the on-campus tutoring center and all of the instructional student assistants in the Math Department, I oversee a student organization involved with The Vagina Monologues on campus, and I'm trying to write a Masters Thesis. CSUMB is pretty much my life.

I'm totally trying to give myself more vacations. California can get pretty intense, and I'm starting to give myself regular breaks to get out of the state and enjoy the rest of the world (and get out of the CA funk every now and then).

This past summer I completed my first solo vacation mission. After having a fear of traveling by myself, I went to Florida for a week and a half with very little to no plans (cuz I'm a plan-aheader with my Crackberry and all), and had a great time. Spontaneity IS great! Now, I'm just thinking where to go next....

PHILOSOPHY

I want to revolutionize the public education system, beginning with creating an outlet through teaching mathematics, integrating every other subject matter and the arts into the curriculum.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've CS'd once so far, and it was great. I'm definitely gonna rock the CS again soon when I travel.

As for hosting a couch - I just had two so far, and they were all fabulous. Super nice people, and I like hosting my place anyway.

I DO have a LOT of friends and friends of friends crash on my couches a lot. Some are too drunk to drive, some are visiting, and all know they're always welcome and my door is always open. They also know that I love to cook and I'll end up feeding them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Serious passion for the electronic music scene (all forms, depending what kind of mood I'm in, but I'm in LOVE with dnb & hhc). I dig the Hip Hop (the stuff that's NOT on the radio) scene. The more underground, the more culture, the more creative, the more amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The latest one that I can remember - I swam with sharks in the Bahamas. (They were super harmless, but I was scared anyway! They were bigger than me, and they have sharp teeth!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a gift for integrating almost anything into the mathematics curriculum. My weakness is my lack of knowledge about a lot of social justice movements that have occurred in the past. I'm always down to learn about them, and want to teach the youth and show them how much power they have and how they can overthrow the US govt. :) (or something).
