About Me

Born and raised in Marseille (southern France), I've also lived in Toulon (close by), Sherbrooke (Quebec), Derry (N. Ireland) and now I'm moving to Caen (Normandy).

Carefree geek who enjoys backpacking, sunbathing, baking, charcuterie, cheese and wine, talking too much and finding new, usually more complex, ways of doing things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I got my first grown-up job, and finally had the money to travel, I discovered I didn't have the time anymore. Then I discovered couchsurfing and decided that if I couldn't visit the world, the world would have to come and crash on my couch. An era of frequent hosting thus started.

Since then, I've travelled through Europe, moved to N. Ireland, moved back to Marseille, and am now moving to Normandy. During this time I've frequently hosted and surfed, and met a lot of fascinating people.

Interests

Lots of things.
I love Marseille, this city is where my heart belongs.
I love to eat good food from all over the world.
I love good wine, good beer, good rum (mmmmh, Mojito!), good vodka (mmmh, white Russian)...
I love to learn how to say "cheers" in as many languages as possible
I love to party and dance

Also, I am a geek, so I love science, sci-fi, cartoons, computers, video games, zombie movies and dumb toys

Music, Movies, and Books

It's going to be a veeery long list.
Movies:
Tarantino, Lynch, Kubrick, Hitchcock, Miyazaki, Burton
70-80 classics: ghost busters, rocky, star wars, back to the future, the goonies, hot shots, neverending story...
Zombie movies
Eternal movies : Casablanca, easy rider, the incorruptibles, modern times, to kill a mocking bird, singing in the rain
I'm probably forgetting half a million ones.

I listen rock, old rock, ska, jazz, reggae, classical music, punk, dub, electrofunk, soul, blues

I read complicated books, and a lot of good sci-fi:
Kafka, Barjavel, Coehlo, Gaiman, Pratchett, Baudelaire, Poe, Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury, Clarke, Dick, Lovecraft of course, Vernes, Hugo, Verlaine, Chateaubriand.
For the moment, I am reading a lot of english languages classic, because I realized I don't know them. On my list, there is Byron, Wilde, Hemmingway and Steinbeck, but the more I read, the more books I want to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Slept on the stairs of Nagoya subway, one cold night of May, because I had missed my train to Kyoto and the hotels were far too expensive.
Survived the Canadian blizzard (-35°C)
Hosted 9 couchsurfers at the same time
Quit my job to travel around Europe
Spent a few days in the middle of the Latvian countryside to celebrate Ligò with the family and friends of someone I met in the tramway days before. And there made crêpes suzettes with an antique pan on top of a wood burning stove

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to say "cheers" in about 30 languages for the moment, and I'd love to learn a few new ones.
I can teach you simple French cuisine and baking. Behold the power of the "tarte tatin" and the flaming "crêpe suzette"!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, France, United Kingdom
