About Me
CURRENT MISSION
We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action. - Frank Tibolt
ABOUT ME
More quiet than loud. More polite than rude. More art than practicality. More tattoos than my mother cares for.
My friends call me Appleseed. You, therefore, may call me Appleseed.
PHILOSOPHY
Remaining true to the spirit that separates me from the dead.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My housemates and I try to share our home with as many couch-surfers as is practical. We enjoy meeting people and enjoy it when travellers meet over dinner at our table. That, and we love to confuse the hell out of our cats. They're like, "Now who the hell is THIS human?!"
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, so good. Just one kind of creepy guy and one girl who didn't feel safe around "black people."
Interests
Chess; Art of all kinds; stand-up comedy (of which I'm awful); history; adventure.
I wish I could play guitar. I try! And yes, I fail.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I will do my best to describe this:
I grew up in a place called Minnesota. It's in the middle north of America. The word Minnesota means "the land of sky blue waters" in the Dakota language, and rightly so. There are lakes everywhere, surrounded by old green forests (the one thing I miss in city life is the sound of wind blowing through hundreds of trees).
In the fall of the year, the leaves turn every imaginable shade of red, orange and yellow. Aside from the green of the pines, the entire landscape brightens into these heraldic colors.
One night, many years ago, it became very warm and a heavy dew settled until the evening. As the temperature dropped, the dew froze to ice.
I awoke for school the next morning, very early, just as the sun was rising. I stepped outside and was stunned into motionlessness. Every fiery leaf, every majestic tree, even the green grass glistened in frozen stillness. The new dawn illuminated a world made of colored glass.
It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
