About Me

Erstwhile academic and wrangler of children. I grew up in Berkeley, California, with a brief side-trek to boarding school in West Virginia. I also lived in New York City for four years, where I studied sociology of gender and education and generally raged against the weather.

I teach second grade for an after care program at an San Francisco Bay Area elementary school. I just started applying to teaching programs, and I'm almost done training as an HIV test counselor at the Berkeley Free Clinic. I also read/think/very occasionally write about gender and sexuality, and I'm finally getting to all those books that piled up while I was in school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love exploring new places, meeting new people, and learning new languages and new ways of living. I'd rather get to know a city or town through its locals than by staying at a hotel or a hostel full of tourists. I want to get to know folks and make friends from all over the world.

Interests
