Overview
About Me
Born in a kibbutz in Israel, a few kilometers form the Gaza strip. Worked in a printing house. Graduated in philosophy, political science and economics (PPE) from the Hebrew Univesity in Jerusalem. Continued as a graduate student in the department of philosophy at Tel Aviv University, and haven't finished my doctoral thesis yet. I became a translator for a few publishing houses in Israel, doing mainly philosophy and history books - notably David Hume's Treatise, which took me about 7 years to complete (it's now the standard Hebrew traslation of the book). Since 2011 I've been involved in activism. I was involved in founding a new monitoring organization called "The Social Guard", bringing ordinary citizens to parliamentary hearings and keeping an eye on legislators.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing while preparing for a long walk across the British isles, partly as a means to save money, partly as a way to get to know the place better. The whole idea was quite unnatural for me, no being usually the kind of person who likes to ask for favours, let alone from strangers. But it proved to be an incredible way to travel, and my hosts were all so welcoming and hospitable that, to my surprize, I immediately felt no awkwardness whatsoever. I can't imagine how this trip might have been like without CS.
So now I'm back in Tel Aviv, and though I don't really have the proper means to host people comfortably - I'd like to give something back. If all you need (materially speaking) is a roof and a mattress, and you don't mind sleeping in my room, I'll be happy to help and show you around.
Interests
My interests keep changing, its hard to tell. Languages have always been my main interest, and everything related to them fascinates me. As an academic philosopher I like arguing about anything. I think a good argument is the noblest form of communincation - but a good arguent is a rare achievement. I'm also interested in politics, not in the shallow sense of politicians and parties, but in the sense of political sociology: what maked people politically involved in a certain period, what causes them to be drifted suddenly towards ceratain views (supporting nationaism, for example), how you can mobilize them in other directions. I also like to watch "how it's made" on YouTube, I can't get enough of it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Bach. I could mention a million other things, but basically I can listen to Bach all my life (I also try to play some of his easier stuff on the piano).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last summer I walked the whole length of Britain, from Land's End at the western coast of Cornwall to John O'Groats at the North-Eastern tip of Scotland. It took 3 month, from May to August, and along the way I mainly camped and stayed with locals. This is how I got into CS.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can talk and argue about everything, and the mysterious thing about convesations is that both parties get to learn things that none of them knew before. It's a sort of alchemy. But it needs patience.
I studied philosophy for many years and taught philosophy for a while, but I'd rather argue about philosophy than "teach" it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can make a good salad that I invented, as long as I can find the right ingredients.
