About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finish seeing Eastern Europe!

ABOUT ME

My wife and I recently relocated to London. Between us we speak many languages, including Spanish and Russian.

I'm currently working at 6th Form School in Richmond. I work in the facilities department.

When I'm not working I explore life in London - there is so much to do. I also enjoy sharing what I know with guests.

I'm a mixture of cultures, languages and identities. This is where my fascination in people, cultures, identities, languages comes from. When you travel you see a new way of life, the way people think and understand the world. I like to share stories over drinks and learn about people. Sharing experiences allows you to step into a new way of understanding and thinking. This is what couchsurfing affords you./

PHILOSOPHY

There is so much to see, learn, experience and understand. The world is too big to see everything, but the world is big enough to see a lot.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had many couchsurfing experineces. Most recently I stayed with someone in Denver, Colorado and my wife and I had a great time! A good friend of mine introduced CS to me. It's a great way to travel and meet people. Overall I have met many interesting couchsurfers in many countries. Most of these meetings have ended up in great friendships.

I've had great travels in the Baltic states, using couchsurfing. The people were always very hospitable. If only more people used couchsurfing, their preconceptions and assumptions about other cultures would change!

I've also met a lot of couchsurfers in Odessa, Ukraine when I was studying Russian at the Polytechnic University. It's a great way to meet other travelers, who are doing something similar.

Interests

I love good music. I love being outdoors. I love snow. I love to share with people what I know and I love to listen. I'm a simple person with simple pleasures. I like Buddhism - its philosophy and its teachings. Other interests are: sailing, yoga, cycling and wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are so many great bands and songs. Recently I been listening to a lot of French pop, folk music, indie, and classical flamenco: Miro, Coralie Clement, John H. Clarke, Robert Simon, Jesse Cook, Lino, Inti Illimani, La Rue Ketanou, Debout Sur le Zinc, Bon Iver, Okkervil River, the Avett Brothers.

I enjoy international movies and T.V. series. Recently I saw: The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, Sherlock Holmes. Old soviet films are also great: Gentlemen of Fortune, The Twelve Chairs, Ilya Muromets, Kidnapping, Caucasian Style, The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!, Ivan Vasilievich: Back to the Future.

I love Russian literature starting from 19th century to soviet literature. The futurist movement was probably one of the most interesting times during that period: Zamyatin "We" and Babel "Red Cavalry". I have also like short stories by Zoschenko,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had three amazing experiences so far: Studying in Scotland, traveling to Mongolia in a car, and coming to London.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life offers you only so many opportunities to learn. We all eventually age and become fixed, structured and ordered. I want to use my language skills, my knowledge and experiences when I travel and meet people. And because reciprocity is an important part of it I want to learn from others their experiences and knowledge.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories, food and long walks. There are many great pubs in Richmond. We can show local places that very few tourists ever see.

If you love walking, so bring your walking shoes. We live very near three beautiful parks: Bushy Park, Kew Gardens and Richmond Park.

There are also many clubs and disco-techs. We're not into night clubs, but if you are - we won't stop you;)

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Netherlands, Norway, Russian Federation, Spain, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan

Countries I’ve Lived In

Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States
