ABOUT ME

I am rather easy-going, and relaxed. But I also enjoy an occasional discussion on various topics, be it arts, philosophy, or life in general.
I grew up in various places, born in USSR, later Ukraine, but also Germany (high school and college). I have been in the States for 6 years, doing doctoral research on how culture influences our mind/behavior. Recently, I moved to the Waterloo area for work at the UW.
In addition to science, I enjoy various dance-art forms (especially latin-american dancing), and photography.

I am new to CS, on recommendation of a friend. I am still learning my ways around it.

I hosted a few people in the past, and met with a few CS folks in Ann Arbor, as well as when travelling in Europe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Japanese fireworks at the Montreal firework festival - the most amazing fireworks I have seen so far.
I finished my PhD this year, at the same time doing competitive ballroom dancing (incl. national finals).
