***I'm looking for a cat-lover or a couple of cat-lovers who need a place to stay July 4th or 5th (or a few days before) through July 10th (or a few days after). I'm looking to swap housing for catsitting. I currently have 2 of my own cats, 1 permanent foster cat (due to chronic illness, but he gets around and functions fine) and 2 older foster kittens (6 and 8 months). The older kittens are in a room by themselves, and might be adopted before these dates arrive.***

I am currently teaching in a summer program, writing/editing, and tutoring. I also volunteer a lot, particularly with animals as well as (currently) refugees/immigrants escaping domestic violence situations.

ABOUT ME

I first encountered some couchsurfers when I went to Ecuador for a semester to teach. Great people!

I am fairly intense and thoughtful. I love to keep my mind and/or body active. I have a lot of experience teaching and working with people (and animals) from all walks of life and find that I can talk to just about anyone...but prefer those experiences and conversations that go deeper and in which we discover/learn something meaningful about each other, people, and living beings in general, or the nature of the world. I am also quite introspective and can experience essential moments with others without even saying a word.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I rescued animals in devastating situations in New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) after Hurricane Katrina. The experience was very eye-opening in terms of human, animal, environmental, and political conditions.

I can share a lot about nutrition, animal rescue and behavior, nature, and various academic subjects, particularly mathematics and science. I also coach/teach people in English.

I have a somewhat flexible schedule, although as of July 2016, I'm teaching afternoons ( M - F) and evenings (M - Th) in a summer program, and tutoring regularly during some mornings. So, my availability to show you around is limited to days/hours outside of those. I can help you navigate the metro, bus system, and highways around here and offer suggestions on places to visit. I do hike a lot, even if it's a short local trip, so if you're up for a power hike or other, feel free to join me!
