About Me

Hello!

My name is Isaac and I'm from Guatemala. I'm a music lover and a former Chemical Biologist, which just recently found the opportunity to professionalize on music composition for visual media, taking a step forward into make it my daily job.

I'm an introvert with genuine curiosity about people, culture and mind. I love (besides music) history, science, geography, sound, food, other forms of art, and talking about the inner self.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people through the experience of traveling. I hope to be able to host in the near future :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Normally I would extend too much on this answers but, being short, I love instrumental music, progressive metal and rocks, solo piano and guitar, soundtracks and orchestral, world music (specially mediterranean and latin), p, fusion jazz, etc. I barely listen to the radio or the top 40s kind of music, but as it is my profession I'm obviously very tolerant about any kind of music in general.

About film, I'm into world cinema, specially drama (historic and science fiction), introspective themes and dystopias. My favorite director is Alejandro González Iñarritu. I'm also fan of biographies and documentaries. Finally, I've been recently fascinated with spanish cinema and series production.

My favorite writers are, in this order, Milan Kundera, José Saramago, Ernest Hemingway, Herman Hesse and Charles Bukowski. I don't see myself as a bookworm because sadly now there is not so much time for it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked on a Covid hospital in my country for one year before coming to Spain to get my masters on Film Scoring.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been a professor on a couple of universities on music and sound subjects, and a private piano and guitar instructor for several years.
