About Me

I'm a 22 years old girl from Finland. I go to university in Turku, which is a beautiful city situated along the west coast of Finland. I study Finnish and Finno-Ugric languages at university, which basically means that I spend most of my time going all nerd about linguistics and learning languages! Other than that I love walking around the historical sites of my at-the-moment-hometown, writing and playing several instruments.

Right now I´m an exchange student in Hungary, Szeged.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet other people with the same kind of attitude towards travelling. I am bored to death when it comes to staying at hotels and only meeting the reception staff of every place I go to!

Music, Movies, and Books

I actually spend most of my time listening to Finnish music, but since most folks don't know anything of such, I would list bands like Arctic Monkeys, Pink Floyd, Кино, and Porcupine Tree. I also love many movie soundtracks and musical stuff including all things Disney, Tarantino and Chicago.
When it comes to movies, I'm a lover. Again, Tarantino, Disney, musicals, but also things like Monty Python, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Mr. Nobody, and Lord of the Rings (not Hobbit though - and would love to share why!)
Books... Again, lots of Finnish stuff. John Green's Paper Towns was pretty awesome few years back, as well as Burgess's Clockwork Orange. But mainly I read things for reasons other than the actual content of the book, as I find them a great way of studying languages. Geek, right?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the age of 18 I went to work in Iceland for three months. Having never travelled alone, the experience taught me a lot about myself and how to survive in a country where trying to move money to your foreign account is practically a crazy utopia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Finnish! I can also help you learning to play guitar or piano, and I can for sure share my favorite student budget recipes with you. I'm kind of into baking, so you should be prepared to try my favorite cookies or some Finnish pancakes. If you want to indulge me with something you can teach for me, languages, food recipes, and new songs (preferably from your country in your language!) are pretty great options.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will always have some Finnish goods with me to let you taste, and if not, I'll just make them for you! Obviously I'm an expert in telling how our land of 200t lakes, so sharing my culture with you is a super easy task. If you have any interest towards linguistics, learning languages, playing music or watching great films, I'm sure we'll have some really long and awesome conversations.
