Unfortunately, I do not travel that much, but I travel enough to realize that I hate feeling like a tourist as I visit a new place. I don't like to pay an expensive flight to just appear on 5 photos with the emblematic "thing" at the background.
I'm searching genuine experiences.
Travelling is not just body shifting, is also a mind and interpersonal shifting. More about making new connections and embracing a different cultures. For that reason I see Couchsurfing as a tool for making those connections with amazing people around the globe :)

Books: I am legend, Akira (manga), Steppenwolf, The Wind-up Bird Chornicle, 1984, H.P. Lovecraft's horror stories but I usually read more non-fiction different topics as digital culture, zen, design and contemporary art.
