About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore, learn and live as much as possible

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin in the United States and have lived in rural Ohio, Berkeley, CA and Saint Louis, MO in the United States and Marseille and Bayonne in France. I studied French and Environmental Studies at university and spent the past year teaching little children English in the public schools of Tarnos, France. I am a very open and friendly person and like to laugh a lot!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am relatively new to couchsurfing, I joined a little less than a year ago. However, every experience I have had has been amazing! I have both hosted and surfed and definitely want to continue to do so.

Interests

I am very passionate about environmental issues, try to eat organic and local as much as possible and love being out in nature. I love biking, hiking, exploring, meeting new people and learning new languages. For example, when I was ten I taught myself how to write in the phoenician alphabet. Unfortunately I haven't practiced in quite a while. haha. Aside from French, I have also studied German, Spanish, Arabic and Vietnamese and I do know a few words in Hungarian, Czech and Basque from my time spent in the regions. I love the feeling of sore muscles after rock climbing or biking long distances. I love back floating lazily in rivers, lakes and seas while watching the clouds go by. And I love living in foreign countries and really getting to know the culture and people of the region. This year I was lucky enough to becomes friends with really amazing people from all over the world. An experience that has opened my eyes and made me feel much more connected and aware.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2011 I went to a meditation retreat in the Rocky Mountain National Park. One morning my brother and I along with several others met up around 5:00 in the morning when the stars were still bright against the dark sky and hiked to the top of a mountain together. We got there just in time to catch the sunrise. So beautiful and breathtaking.

There are so many other experiences I could mention but I would definitely also include hiking part of the Camino de Santiago. My feet never hurt so badly in my life!! But it was so incredible. I am already planning on doing it again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn languages and try typical dishes. I also have experience teaching English and could teach french and English along with any bits of the other languages I know.I worked at a science and astronomy museum last year and love sharing the interesting facts I have learned. I also love sharing and discussing world views with people from other places.
