About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to see the world before I'm too busy with work to appreciate the sights.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 22 year old photography student in San Jose. I've lived here my whole life, save for a small 4 month stint in Italy.
My mom was born in Peru, and though I don't look like it I'm fairly fluent in Spanish. (Though I need to practice more, the only people I talk to in Spanish nowadays are the cooks at my work)

I love having colored hair. Hell, I love colors, (hence the screen name) Some people have trouble adding color to their wardrobe, I have trouble finding clothes that lack a saturated variety of hues. It's slightly ridiculous, but in my opinion, why live in a black and white world when there are so many other options out there?

PHILOSOPHY

Be honest with yourself.
Be nice to people.
Live, laugh, and party.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined, I live in a house that would be awesome to host some surfers, but I have a roommate that is not awesome to host surfers... :(
I do want to have a surfing experience in the near future though, whether it be showing someone around San Jose (not really all that exciting, sorry) or hanging out on someones couch for a few nights.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have some friends that have done the couch surfing bit and had an awesome experience. Just met some cool German exchange students who spent some time couch surfing and really enjoyed it too, but other than that, none.

Interests

I'm a fan of fashion photography. and dogs. and cats. and pretty much most animals.
I played water polo for 8 years and did swim team almost as much, I haven't been in a pool in over a year, so I've replaced that with the gym; I hate the feeling of being out of shape.
I like to be surrounded by people. I love going out with my friends or having a large group of friends at my place.
I love watching movies, and listening to music, and going to shows and plays are fun too. I like clothes, and designing clothes and planning parties and decorating.

Music, Movies, and Books

Stardust is an amazingly beautiful film.
Ratatat is a fun band to listen to.
I am a fan of Chick Flips. (get it?! like chick flicks, but with pages!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

ooh ooh I know this one!!!! let's see if i can manage to put it in writing...
When I was in Pisa, we took a tour of the square in the city. (you know, where the leaning tower is. [by the way, the touristy area of Pisa is AMAZINGLY small! seriously was not expecting that]) As part of the tour we go into the basilica (one of the three buildings in the square) the tour guide explains to us that the building was built in the shape of an octagon, and something else about how it's formed, but either way, the important part is she says because of the way it's built, if you stand directly in the middle of the building and call out a note, it will echo in a way that sounds like hundreds of voices all together, and every 45 minutes or something the workers come in, close all the doors and sing out a couple of notes... To this day, that is the best experience of my life. Sitting there as this man in black sings out a scale and the echos reverberate off the eight walls, bouncing and skipping across the different planes making it sound like hundreds of people were joining together in a chorus. It truly was a magical experience that gave me goosebumps...

Another experience would probably be hiking Cinque Terre. ooh! or in Greece, standing on top of a piramid-like structure with an arcade at the top and looking out onto miles and miles of saphire blue ocean. wow. that was awesome. sitting there thinking, holy crap, this was an every day sight for people thousands of years ago!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach dying hair skills. I could probably teach you some nutrition (I'm a better teacher than a student at that) or exercise skills. I can teach you how to swim!
