关于我

CURRENT MISSION

To be free. To facilitate freedom. To teach, and learn things that free us. Not from our bodies. Not off to the stars. Right here on earth, as humans, who are changing realistically, step by step, toward lives we can sustain for a thousand generations.

ABOUT ME

For that photo of me that I can't seem to upload, go to
http://thefisheyeguy.com/photos/burning%20man/bm%202003/page%203/glasses.htm

Me? I'm an interesting guy. What can I say? I fascinate me. But so does just about everybody, and everything. I can honestly say I'm one of the most curious people I know. I don't think that's boasting. Quite frankly, I'm annoyingly inquisitive. Drives people nuts. But some people love me for it.

Anything can be interesting, if you just get interested.

PHILOSOPHY

I never shut up about it. Just look. Or "listen." I guess.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I'm just filling out this profile stuff and volunteering the couch I have at the moment. Let's see where we go from here. My mind is on offer, as are any resources I may be able to sway your way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First-timer on the website. Been sleeping in random spots, often contained within random homes, at the invite of random strangers, for years and years. Some people just really like meeting new people. In fact, it's not really random is it? Fortuitous.

兴趣

Thought stuff: Anthropology, Philosophy, Writing, Reading, Sociology, History: fill in all the rest of the subjects and then mix em up into a big, general interest.

Physical stuff: Hitchhiking, Climbing, Running, Playing, Raquetball, a little B-ball, Walking: ahh, I love walking. I don't think I'll ever purchase another motorized vehicle again.

音乐、电影和书籍

Anything by Daniel Quinn (Ishmael, etc.), anything by Lee Child (the Jack Reacher series), fun infotainment like Dan Brown, the serious stuff like Inventing the Child; The Mismeasure of Woman; Limited Wants, Unlimited Means; A Language Older Than Words. I like light stuff too, and good stories. Recent reading includes a crime mystery about helicopters, guns and terrorism; an article comparing gender power relations in primitive vs. "advanced" societies; a Richard Write novel about growing up poor, adopted and black in 60's New York; a David Sedaris book; a book about Wolves and the culture of our hatred/worship of them.

I like Gorillaz, Dead Prez, Infected Mushroom, Death Cab for Cutie, and lots of other stuff (obviously). Has anybody ever heard of The Prince Myshkins?

My friend's a screenwriter: we're both kind of (well, him totally) obsessed with movies. Mentioning Harold and Maude seems to communicate quickly what you're all about.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Oh, burningman, jumped out of a few planes, flown one, and a heli (both only briefly), seen the Amazon R., seen the Grand Canyon from 60 miles away and a mile and a half up (Mount Humphreys), had a vision of a tree that told me about life, that was at a rainbow gathering. You know, these profile questions are much more inspiring than the ones on other social utility websites. Me like. Oh, I see: that was supposed to be one amazing thing I've done. Oops. I once hitchhiked from Quito, Ecuador, to New York City with a random girl that I met down there (who's now a best friend).

教,学,和分享

Poop. Scat. It's a whole field of study, you know. Several, really, if you include things ranging from the study of fossilized turd (oldcrapology) to the study of, um, strange sexual practices. Did I mention that I'm curious about everything? I mean finding out about everything, not necessarily doing everything.

And here's what I want to ask "the future CouchSurfing University:" When Colombus bumped into the Americas, were there like 10 million Indians living here, or was it more like 100? I mean it doesn't really change the dynamic of what happened, so much. But I'm really curious.
