About Me

ABOUT ME

Hellooo, I am Ilka from Hungary! :) I live in Solymár, a little town right next to Budapest, where I've been doing all my studies and most of the fun too...:)

Currently I study graphic design, wich is my passion since I was a little kid with a bunch of colored pencils in my hand, and I am finally doing something useful with it!!

I also studied Recreation and Health Promotion, wich is one of my main interests. I love sports, and I consider health as a really important part of our life and well-being, and I would love to help people to be more mindful and caring about there lifestyle and health.

I lived in Belgium for 6 month last year, it was a very intense and useful experience, there I've became more dedicated about what I want to do with my life..:) I worked in an outdoor sport and leisure facility, wich I chose because of my studies.

Maybe it's obvious here, but I LOVE travelling! I love really random experiences and adventures that I don't necessarily plan ahead. That's why I prefer Couchsurfing rather than other ways to stay, and hitchhiking rather than train, when possible.

PHILOSOPHY

"Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find the idea of Coushsurfing amazing for a traveller it's a mistake not to be present here! :)

It's the best way to get to know a place, a culture, through locals.

Though I'm not able to host for now, one day I would also like to give this experience to my friends all over the world through hosting them . :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'd been hosted in Sarajevo by a really nice girl, actually we were there with two of my friends. Our host and her boyfriend were kind and helpful, they showed us around, great experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't really have a favorite genre in music, I love the music what really gets me, and it can be almost any kind.. Recently I've been into indie, electronic (Nicolas Jaar, Isaac Stern, LDS room), little psychedelic (like Hilight Tribe), folk and oriental...to be honest I don't always really know the names of genres...
Crystal Fighters, Thievery Corporation, Son Lux, Moby, oasis, the fat rat, woodkid, fat freddy's drop, Portugal the man, tame impala, mgmt, empire of the sun...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I was in a workcamp in the french Alps, and there we went to cave diving. It was really terrifying and exciting at the same time, going through all those tiny dark holes inside the Earth while the only light source is a little lamp on my head.

I was travelling in Italy with my boyfriend, hitchhiking. sleeping in tent. One night it got dark and we still didn't find any place to sleep, so we went to a bar to grab a beer. We ended getting friends with a really drunk italian guy, who offered us a ride to a really good place for our tent...we didn't have any better options, so we went with it. It wasn't a long way, but it was a hell of a ride.. He also said that his mom was going to give us breakfast in the morning.
We put up our tent at the end of a street, next to some river, the guy went home, never saw him again. In the morning we heard some voice, looked out of the tent, cute old lady with an umbrella (it was a bit rainy) approaching, speaking italian, and as we thought of the gestures she'd invited us to her home. She was the mother of the guy from the night before. She took us to her kitchen and gave us tons of breakfast cookies and coffee, still speaking italian. The whole scene was so random and so lovely,it left very much positive feelings and memories in me about strangers. :)
