About Me

I'm just 20 year old guy trying to find his way. I deferred Uni for a while because life-wise, I was pretty damn clueless. Stumbled on the world of travelling a year back, loved it. Learned, loved, grew. Since then I've settled back into a state of comfort back at home. It's a little sad how complacent things have gotten in the last year. It feels like it's time to get back out there :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For the experience! After going on my first solo overseas trip to Asia, I found the best part of the trip was always the different people you get to meet. As short lived as they may be, travel friends are the most genuine friendships I think I'll ever make. You wish you could keep these people in your lives forever, we all have our own directions. It's different - all emotions are heightened and being in an exciting new place is different to making friends at home. But there's always something new to learn from each person you stumble upon throughout the journey. And even the smallest things will stick with you forever. It's very much shaped the person that I am, at least - and I'm sure that's the case for many others.

Music, Movies, and Books

In terms of music, I'll listen to anything J. Cole or Kendrick Lamar. Really loving Of Monsters and Men at the moment. Really depends on the mood - there's good and bad music in every genre / era. I'll dance to pretty much anything.

Really digging auto/biographies at the moment. The autobio of Malcolm X was a really interesting one. I've started learning about meditation, spirituality as of late - vipassiana in particular. Harry Potter was my childhood favorite, along with Aussie classic Specky McGee. Gillian Flynn's books I've started to delve into (wrote gone girl) after reading a book called Dark Place.

Movie wise, I would not be able to chose. I think Tarantino hits the comedy/drama/action/story balance that I absolutely love. Can't forget about Star Wars - the new movie was so amazing, and I've had a nerd-boner for those movies since I was a kid.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's not the most amazing individual experience, but the most life changing. Almost two years ago, being a clueless, potsmoking kid with no idea what to do after school - my life was so bleak, boring and empty that I almost thought I was going insane. On impulse, I booked a return ticket to spend 5 days in Melbourne on my own - where I checked into a hostel since it was alot cheaper. After becoming friends with my roommates almost straight away, I was convinced to skip my flight and stay. Which was scary, but I did. After that, 5 days eventually turned into 6 months. $200 turned into $4000 - and from that point I knew all I want to do at this point in my life is experience things and travel. Never looked back since I made that decision. Travellers have had a completely world-changing influence on my life. It scares me to think of what I'd be doing if I hadn't booked that ticket.
