ABOUT ME
I'm Giles, a photographer who has dabbled in everything from journalism to aerial photography and is presently concentrating on wetplate collodion photography. I use a camera built in 1905 and a lens created in 1849 to craft one-of-a-kind, magical images of silver and light. It's an imperfect process, as much science and luck as it is art. I love photographing people, capturing their faces, emotions and spirits with a timeless medium.
I'm currently on a trip around the country bringing my studio with me in hopes of finding new and beautiful people to be a part of my adventure.
I grew up in the mountains of New York, have visited every state and lived in many. I feel most at home when I'm on the road traveling aimlessly.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't be nasty. Or if you must be nasty, at least be funny nasty.

Yup, love em.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cycled from California to Florida in January. Beat a coked up viking in an arm wrestling match. Watched the sun set over an old volcano. Got interviewed by NPR!
Teach, Learn, Share
I haven't met a camera which I couldn't outsmart yet. People seem to like my portraits and I could probably teach a pretty decent photography lesson. Oh and I can also open a beer with a penny.
