Overview
About Me
I'm Imam Mehedi Ashfi, currently pursuing Aerospace Engineering at Chandigarh University, but my true passion lies in exploring the world. I love traveling to new places, meeting people, and diving deep into different cultures. I've had the incredible opportunity to visit almost every district in my home country, and now I'm taking my adventures across India.
What excites me most about travel is discovering offbeat places—those hidden gems that aren't on the typical tourist map. I find joy in connecting with locals and experiencing life as they do, whether it's in a remote village or a small town that's rich in tradition.
I also share my journeys on my YouTube channel, where I'm still a beginner in the world of content creation. But I'm excited to grow and bring more of my experiences to life through my videos. If you're curious to see the world from my perspective, feel free to check out my channel here: [Imam Mehedi Ashfi on YouTube](https://youtube.com/@ImamMehediAshfi).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe that the best way to truly experience a place is through the people who live there. Traveling isn’t just about seeing new sights; it’s about connecting with others, sharing stories, and gaining a deeper understanding of the world. Couchsurfing offers a unique opportunity to step off the beaten path and immerse myself in local cultures in a way that traditional travel can't. I’m here to meet like-minded individuals, exchange knowledge, and create authentic, memorable experiences that go beyond the usual tourist spots. For me, it's all about the connections and the genuine, human side of travel.
Interests
One of the things I love most about traveling is trying traditional foods. There's something incredibly special about tasting a dish that's been passed down through generations, each bite telling a story of its own. I always make it a point to seek out authentic local cuisine wherever I go, whether it's a street vendor in a bustling market or a small, family-run eatery tucked away in a quiet village.
But it's not just about the food for me—it's about the people behind it. I enjoy meeting locals, sitting down with them, and hearing their stories. There's so much to learn from their perspectives, their way of life, and the values they hold dear. These conversations give me a deeper understanding of the places I visit, making my travels even more meaningful.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:My reading interests are quite varied, but I have a strong passion for scientific discoveries, especially in the fields of rocketry, psychology, and genetics. Books like 'The Selfish Gene,' 'How to Drive a Nuclear Reactor,' and 'Overcoming Depression' captivate me with their exploration of complex ideas. I also enjoy motivational and self-help books like 'Mindset' and 'The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck,' which offer valuable insights into personal development. Additionally, I'm fascinated by works that delve into the mysteries of the universe, such as 'The Theory of Everything.'
Music: My taste in music spans across genres and cultures. I have a deep appreciation for traditional and folk music, which helps me connect with the soul of different places. World music, classic rock, and acoustic sounds are also close to my heart, as they evoke strong emotions and tell compelling stories. Music is an integral part of my travel experiences, and I’m always eager to discover new sounds that resonate with me.
Movies:When it comes to movies, I'm a huge fan of films that explore the depths of human experience and the intricacies of life. I love movies like 'Three Idiots' that blend humor with meaningful messages. I’m also a big admirer of Christopher Nolan's work, particularly his 'Batman trilogy,' which combines gripping storytelling with profound themes. The 'Harry Potter' series holds a special place in my heart as well, for its rich world-building and the sense of wonder it inspires. I enjoy films that challenge my thinking and leave a lasting impact, making me reflect long after the credits roll.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My solo camping experience in Chitkul
As I embarked on this journey, the drive through the rugged Himalayan roads was nothing short of breathtaking. Every turn revealed new vistas—lush greenery, towering peaks, and the majestic backdrop of the Himalayas.
Upon reaching Chitkul, I was immediately struck by its rustic charm. The village, with its wooden houses and fluttering prayer flags, felt like a peaceful retreat from the chaos of everyday life. It was as if time had slowed down, and I was immersed in a different world.
Setting up my camp along the Baspa River was a highlight. The river’s crystal-clear waters flowed steadily, providing a soothing soundtrack to the serene surroundings. The crisp mountain air was invigorating, and the view of the snow-capped peaks in the distance was awe-inspiring.
As evening fell, the temperature dropped, and the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors. I sat by the campfire, wrapped in warmth, and felt a profound connection to the natural beauty around me. The night sky was a spectacular display of stars, so clear and numerous that it felt like I was lying directly beneath the universe.
Waking up to the soft light of dawn, I was greeted by the golden glow of the morning sun illuminating the mountains and river. The tranquility and beauty of Chitkul were overwhelming, and I felt deeply at peace in this remote, picturesque setting. Camping solo in Chitkul was a perfect blend of adventure and serenity, offering a chance to disconnect from the world and connect with the raw, untouched beauty of nature.
It was an experience that's forever curved inside my heart.
Teach, Learn, Share
In my travels, I love to teach others about the unique aspects of my culture, including sharing traditional recipes and stories from my experiences across different regions. I’m always eager to learn new things, especially when it comes to local customs, languages, and the history of the places I visit. Whether it’s through food, conversation, or simply exploring together, I’m excited to connect and create meaningful memories with my hosts or guests.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As a traveler, I can offer my hosts a unique blend of cultural exchange and personal stories. I love to share traditional recipes and insights from my experiences exploring different regions. Whether it's cooking a local dish together or discussing the intricacies of rocketry and psychology, I'm always eager to teach and learn. My passion for travel and meeting new people means I bring a sense of curiosity and openness to every interaction.
In addition to sharing my knowledge and experiences, I enjoy engaging in meaningful conversations about various topics, from scientific discoveries to personal growth.
