Hi there! This is Leire and Imanol :) We are a couple from Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain).
We believe that coachsurfing offers a great opportunity to meet great people and get to know and learn from so many different cultures, experiences or ways of thinking.
Our philosophy of travelling is to "get to know people, not places", in order to share experiences with other people and learn how to live together in a better way. That's our big motivation when we travel abroad and at home, because CS offers also the possibility of traveling just at home, which we find just great.
Regarding ourselves, we are traveling souls, we love nature, animals and the mountains. We love to camp in the mountains and feel the grass under our feet and all the stars above our heads.
We are interested in ecology and sustainability, alternative education (free schools), ecovillages, photography, drawing, yoga and meditation, solidarity projects and cooperation for development ...
Our great dream is to travel the world as nomads without fixed dates, and to find nice ecovillages where to stay temporarily and try alternative and sustainable lifestyles :)
We have lived in England, Germany and recently, in Australia. We have travelled to countries such as Madagascar, Jordan, Sahara, Palestine, central and western Europe, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
We hope to share adventures together soon!

Hola! Somos Leire e Imanol, tenemos 31 años y somos de Bilbao.
Creemos que CS ofrece una gran oportunidad para conocer personas fascinantes y enriquecerse mucho de otras culturas, experiencias o formas de pensar.
Nuestra filosofía de viajar es la de "hacer turismo de personas, no de lugares", poder compartir con los demás y convivir. Eso nos enriquece y nos llena mucho, y es nuestra principal motivación para viajar, ya sea en el extranjero o simplemente en casa, ya que CS nos ofrece la posibilidad de viajar sin movernos de casa, cosa que nos encanta :)
En cuanto a nosotros somos almas viajeras, nos gusta mucho la naturaleza, los animales y la montaña. Nos encanta acampar en el monte y sentir la hierba bajo los pies y el manto de estrellas sobre nuestras cabezas.
Nos interesa la ecología y la sostenibilidad, la educación alternativa (escuelas libres), las ecoaldeas, la fotografía, el dibujo, el yoga y la meditación, los proyectos solidarios y de cooperacion al desarrollo...
Nuestro gran sueño es vivir una vida nómada viajando por el mundo, así como buscar ecoaldeas donde probar una forma diferente de vivir más sosteniblemente.
Hemos vivido en Inglaterra, Alemania y, recientemente, Australia. Hemos viajado a países como Madagascar, Jordania, Sáhara, Palestina, Europa central y occidental, Puerto Rico, Brasil, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, etc.
Esperamos poder compartir pronto aventuras juntos!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get to know people of many other nationalities and learn from other cultures and languages... we think that the idea CS is an easy way for that, such a great initiative!

Rock, Folk, Jazz, Blues, Salsa, world music, or any traditional/regional music ... A little bit of everything!!

A film that we love is Into the Wild. We also love Captain fantastic, La vie est belle, Slumdog millionaire...
Regarding documentaries, we strongly recommend the documentary "La Educación Prohibida".

Besides we like the so well-known sagas/movies as Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings or Avatar and Leire loves Disney movies :)

We love travel experience books such as "Kilómetros de sonrisas" of Biciclown (cycle-traveler clown), and "Bajo Los cielos de Asia" of Iñaki Ochoa de Olza (alpinist).
We also love books of specific topics such as drawing, psychology, plants, yoga...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A smile of certain people that, having almost nothing, they share with you all they have... as well as proving that happiness is much less complicated than we tend to think... it needs so little indeed :)

We have checked this out with the always smiling malagasy people in Madagascar, with the hopeful migrants in Calais or with the strong-heart people of Sahara refugees and Palestine.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach basque, spanish or even basic english... and want to learn french and arabic!
Apart from languages, we would like to share and discuss our vision of the world and countries visited, and exchange opinions and learn from other cultures and different countries, which we see as the biggest point of CS :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Host in Getxo, close to Bilbao, or just kind conversation and sharing experiences, showing good spots of our city and nearby depending on the free-time available for each day... and, of course, two potential friends ;)
