Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was in highschool one of my best friends had a Japanese exchange student living with him. Over the course of that year we became friends and one night after having dinner with my family we decided to take a walk and I expressed how cool and brave I thought it was that they decided to experience life on the opposite end of the earth and that one day I wanted to do the same and go to Japan. They very instistently replied that I shouldn't wait and that I should go to Japan as an exchange student like they did to the USA. I took their advice and found a program that placed me with a family and a school and I went. I'm from a family where no one travels to anywhere. That conversation changed the trajectory of my life, and I am forever thankful. So, in the spirit of that youth who fortunately had a friend who lovingly encouraged him to see beyond his doubts and fears, I have continued to travel and wish to connect with genuine people from all walks of life, all over the world.

Movies: Moonlight (Barry Jenkins), In The Mood For Love (Wong Kar-wai), Sin (Andrei Konchalovsky) - And many many many others. I ❤️ films.

Books: The Will to Change (Bell Hooks) - This booked changed my life.
