About Me

I am a creative writer/translator from the Netherlands, always looking for new international pals and life stories! I've been living in the dynamic city of Rotterdam for over four years now and still love it. Although post-covid I would also like to be around nature more. As a freelance writer, I can pretty much go wherever I want and write, but I find it important to feel at home somewhere. These places tend to often be harbour cities :) There's just something about that raw & open spirit of the people there..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I lived in England I opened up to a lifestyle full of friends from all over the world (mostly Colombia) and I don't want to give up on that. I don't think there's anything as valuable or fun as meeting internationals. Or Colombians.

Interests

Reading, pic nics, driving aimlessly endlessly, petting cats, coffee snobs, camping, hammocks, all the music. Super obsessed with good food and good comfort.

Music, Movies, and Books

Everyone should read Fates & Furies, A Little Life and I Love Dick. The His Dark Materials trilogy is my soul. I also adored the Elena Ferrante quartet and am a fan of books on complex friendships in general. Less of a moviegoer. Music can be so much - I listen to mostly raw emotional electronics like BANKS and Tirzah, great powerful psychedelic tunes like Tame Impala, great songwriting like that of Lorde, James Blake is bon for writing, I've recently discovered Jim E-stack and I want to be Jenny Hval when I grow up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This will always be whale watching. However, since I discovered the art of watching whales, the opportunities seem to slip from me. Orcas, stop teasing me! Edit: I've since seen orcas around Vancouver waters AND had lunch with them! Woah. Definitely the most amazing thing. Orcas, you win every time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Kindness, a genuine spirit and a listening ear! And apparently I have funny facial expressions. I know where the good coffee is.
