About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be excellent to each other.

ABOUT ME

Hi! I work as a Night Auditor at a local hotel (which is part of the reason I can't host currently) but my free time I spend trying to put my degree in Theatre Arts to good use. My background is in acting and costuming and have recently gotten into cosplay to try and expand my costuming skills. I'm a super huge nerd/geek/dork that gets overly emotionally involved with the fates of fictional characters, as well as watching way too much HGTV.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy the little things and hold close that which brings you happiness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined awhile ago but unfortunately haven't been able to host, as neither my rooming nor job situation is currently conducive for being as hospitable as I would prefer. But I'm saving up for a place of my own, and then you will all be more than welcome! And even more unfortunately I haven't been able to travel much either but I look forward to meeting like-minded wanderlusters as soon as I can! In the mean time I love coffee and tea... Do you love coffee? Tea? We should have a drink and chat.

Plus I kind of have pipedream of trying to recreate Around the World in 80 Days, i.e. circumnavigating the globe without the use of cars or planes, but I'm not even sure if that's possible anymore. Is it? I haven't been able to find much about Trans Atlantic or Pacific cruises.

Interests

I'm big theatre/musical theatre nerd. I love me singing/dancing/crazy weird happenstances taking place live in living color.

Hobbies include but not limited to: making people laugh, singing, cooking, swing/ballroom dancing, writing, drawing, sewing, continually attempting to take up Tai Chi, being a cinephile esp. old school Hollywood, being a history nerd, being a nerd/geek in general and casually running a muck.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a voracious reader, mostly of Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels but I also like Historical fiction, books about WWII, Jane Austen, Shakespeare. I'll try almost anything, but I can't guarantee I'll finish it if it doesn't hold my attention.

Generally I go for feel good heartwarming films, but I'm not adverse to the more intellectually inclined cinematic adventure like The Fall. Wizard of Oz is my all time favorite movie, I actually have memories of watching it at 2 years old. Beauty and the Beast comes in a close second though. I also enjoy Nostalgiafests in the vein of The Karate Kid or the Breakfast Club. Good witty romcoms such as Love Actually. Occasional nerdiness from the likes of Star Wars, Trek and Studio Ghibli and of course just about any movie musical. TCM is a channel I spend a lot of time watching and I wanted to be Indiana Jones growing up.

I have wildly eclectic tastes in music, probably too varied to fully list here. They include but are not limited to: The Beatles, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkle, The Spill Canvas, Mumford & Sons, 30 Seconds to Mars, Justin Timberlake (NSYNC nostalgia FTW!), Big Band/Swing/World War II/ Era music, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, The Yoshida Brothers, E.S. Posthumus, Edith Piaf, Volataire, the Mediaeval Baebes, my massive collection of World Music CDs from Putumayo. I'll even listen to some country: Lady Antebellum puts on a great live show! (And don't tell anyone but you can hear me sassing Aaron Tveit on his live album!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being at Abu Simbel on the day the sun comes through the central opening to illuminate the face of Rameses II.

Teach, Learn, Share

Did you know that bananas are actually berries? I'm full of interesting facts like that. I'm also a boss at origami.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a fairly decent cook, provided I have a recipe to work from... winging it doesn't always end well. Unless it's stir fry.

I'm easy going, fun loving and fancy free! Show me your local hang outs and teach my the backwater ways. I'm always interested in finding the hidden gems most people miss trying to get the "big ticket" items.
