About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Nobody ever lives their life all the way up except bullfighters.

ABOUT ME

Recently graduated from medical school and started residency in Boston. When I'm free I enjoy traveling, especially into the wilderness since I cannot get so far away these days.

I would like to lead a long, healthy life, so I'm not in a rush. I allocate plenty of time to free time.

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice to each other.

Recognize your own role in creating who you want to be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to meet/host travelers and serve as a local information source. I love to travel and I see CS as a way to connect people while also decreasing costs of traveling. Also, being an ambassador of local microbrews is great way to break the ice.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a cross-country traveler in Mpls and two students from Indiana at my apt in Iceland. I surfed with 2 friends at a house in northern Wisconsin. I surfed in Thunder Bay, ON. I have also met up with CSers on my travels to party and learn more about their regions.

Interests

running, travel, bicycling, reading, hiking, recycling, craft beer, anything unique to a particular locale (especially food); I really like listening to live music, esp. the kind where I can sit, chill and digest it over a beer or coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

In simple terms:
Movies: I prefer arthouse cinema over blockbusters.
Music: the type of stuff that you hear from subpop records; electronic dancy stuff, ambient
Books: a mix of academic non-fiction as well as pop versions-for-the-rest-of-us on all the interesting subjects I know little about; classic fiction; a clever essay or short story has always put me in good mood

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While traveling in Madagascar, I rode in back of a pick-up truck for 51 straight hours with 13 new friends on the worst road I have ever seen. The wheels and axles fell off the truck repeatedly. I made it to our destination--the truck didn't.

As part of my education, I have had the privilege to deliver babies and assist on surgeries. Upon reflection it seems pretty amazing to have had those opportunities.

Teach, Learn, Share

Maybe we can talk about food we like to make or music we listen to or places and things we have seen. We can learn much from sharing our experiences.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Dominican Republic, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Madagascar, Netherlands

Countries I’ve Lived In
