Overview
About Me
An environmental engineering student on exchange in the UK, trying to absorb as much European culture during the six months I'm in this hemisphere before returning to (currently) my favourite place in the world, New Zealand! Keen on the history, landscapes, architecture and culture that Europe is so rich with. Am the 'mum' of my flat, constantly tidying up after the others, and I always set out to make any person I meet happier than before they met me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a mere student, in a foreign land, with a students income and bucket list level travel goals, I am researching every nook and cranny of the internet to experience as much as humanly possible. There is nothing better than meeting the locals in an area to get the best out of your time there; there is only so much a Lonely Planet travel guide can tell you!
Interests
Anything outdoors is good with me! Trekking, camping, kayaking, snowboarding, swimming, you name it, I'll (try and) do it!
Really big on Engineers Without Borders, humanitarian engineering is what I want to focus my engineering career around.
My (corny) life motto is: See the World, Save the World (obviously not literally but that's my general goal in life)
- culture
- architecture
- traveling
- volunteer work
- outdoor activities
- kayaking
- camping
- snowboarding
- swimming
- engineering
- history
- languages
- tourism
- volunteering
Music, Movies, and Books
My dream would be to see Milky Chance live !!
I learnt to read by J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter
And I have fallen in love with everything in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This most recent Christmas been, my mum brother and I trekked over the Tongariro Crossing in New Zealand (add that to you're bucket list now!) on Christmas Day. Just stunning views and so rewarding, would do it all over again in a heart beat! Can't have a Christmas Day at home ever again after that!
Teach, Learn, Share
I dream I have that I hope to do within the next few years is to travel to Nepal for volunteer work there, either by teaching or with my engineering skills.
I have tried to learn French, Japanese, German AND Spanish, all with no luck (I take after my mother in the languages department), but really want to keep trying.
