About Me

I’m a half-British, half-German artist born in Amsterdam. I’ve had the privilege of travelling all over the world ever since I was in the womb, for which I’m very grateful.

Nature is my home, wether it be the deep green forests topped by icy peeks, thirsty sands sprinkled with cacti or the wide and wavering ocean. Yet I love to observe, and what better place is there than the city to lay eyes upon ten new humans every second, and guess at what their lives may be. To get lost in the craziness of places that never sleep and opportunity lies behind each corner.
Life and all it’s paradoxes fascinate me.

I’m one for fires on the beach and deep conversations in hammocks at 2am. For going on a crazy adventure with someone I just met. Simultaneously I am a very calculative person, I think before I do. But really flexible and easy going. Love meeting new people and discovering new places.

My days are filled with performance art, and I’m also a DJ and festival area/theatre producer. I write poetry, prose and novels, and I have directed several short films.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my travels I have found out that you can stay at a fancy hotel and go to the touristic attractions, but then you will never truly experience a place. My best journeys have been those staying with friends who are locals, which always ends up as a far more authentic experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to old music most of the time, like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and the list goes on. Lana del Rey, alt-J, Cage the Elephant and Aurora are my current day loves (and more, of course)

As a DJ I play electronic music; elegant, mysterious, sexy and experimental. In a set I can travel through many different genres, such as deep house, melodic techno, downtempo, funky, and occasionally I dip my toes into acid / psytrance.

As for books, I can lose myself in many a genre. Some books I really love are Shantaram and Cloud Atlas.
I love older, more experimental films, such as The Holy Mountain, Persona, and In The Mood For Love.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15 I sailed from Amsterdam to the Caribbean and back on a tall ship (schooner), together with 32 other students. It took six months, during which we backpacked with ten bucks a day, lived with Rastafari and climbed volcanoes. We lived together in tiny cabins and had to work together 24/7 to keep the ship sailing. It was probably some of the best 6 months of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can recite some of my poetry and have many stories to tell. Give me a mixer and I’ll share my tunes with you, or perhaps I can teach you some ballet or photography. I also have two ears, that can listen to you if that’s what you need. Because I’ve found we all have demons lurking in the shadows of our mind and it’s easier when you can shine some light on them.
