About Me

CURRENT MISSION

...to be the meaning of a 'tree'

ABOUT ME

I am careless, restless, tactless but full of life; I make silly mistakes, slap my head frowning at my stupidity, make sure not to repeat it and then slap again the next time I repeat the same thing.

I was born and brought up in India. I am proud of its culture but you need to know more than 'one' to know the 'other' and so I love to explore new cultures, traditions and love talking to people and getting to know their lives. I have also authored a couple of books. :)

Sometimes, coffee is better than wine.

PHILOSOPHY

About life: Life runs its own way, in its own manner; we only rest a companion; the ultimate aim is self-betterment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My participation to CS is to give what I got- hospitality, respect and a memorable time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had the good luck of coming across some really great people, hidden otherwise in different corners of the world, shining bright of humanity through Couchsurfing. It has been a manner of learning many new things, and stopping at any point in life would be far from being wise.

Interests

I live to read and read to live (people who don't read scare me); music then is common value we all share.
I love old books and like wine, take delight in sniffing them.

When I am not reading or writing I am listening to Jazz or Classical Indian music or Sonatas, sniffing more books, making coffee, looking out of my window, walking slowly (like a cliche poet), thinking about Socrates' beard, a perfect armchair among other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big jazz buff: Nat King, Louis Armstrong, Norah jones, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Nina Simone, Sidney Bechet, John Coltrane, Sam Cooke, among others.

Kahlil Gibran, V.S Naipaul, Salman Rushdie, Charlotte Bronte, Plato, Amitav Ghosh, Mullk Raj Anand, Fyodor Dostoevsky, George Orwell, Orhan Pamuk, Milan Kundera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Oscar Wilde, Albert Camus, Omar Khayyam, Samuel Butler, D.H. Lawrence, Arundhati Roy, Charles Dickens, Anton Chekhov and many more..many many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ah! Life has been a great, tough, lovely journey so far. Things bad, things very bad and at last things good.

*I pee-ed in the middle of a national highway at four in the morning while a heavily loaded truck was coming towards me (if that counts)
* I took a train to a city I had never heard of in my life
* I drank six cans of beer and not brag about it :P
* But seriously, I have seen the most beautiful twilight at the border of Bratislava and Vienna.
* I have seen a father in a train standing because his son was sleeping in his place
* I have blackmailed a sweet guy in the street into singing me a song in exchange for a cigarette

Teach, Learn, Share

* Well I can give you small lessons on North Indian cuisine if you have a good digestive system. :P
* I can be a companion to whoever wants to talk about literature and share their experiences...I like to think I am a good listener.
* I can teach Hindi and a little French Language as well.
