Overview
About Me
Hello, I'm a lifelong traveller and learner who has worn many hats in my lifetime so far. I'm Canadian by nationality but consider myself a citizen of the world. I have a wonderful German husband who shares my love of learning about other cultures. I finished studying in a master's program in landscape ecology and nature conservation in early 2017 and will be working on a PhD in biobased products, soils and life cycle assessment in fall 2017. In the past (and present) I've taught English, been a geologist, helped people with disabilities reach self-actualization goals, as well as worked with at-risk youth in wilderness settings. Since I just joined Couchsurfing, they don't have the same categories as before to identify oneself, so I thought I'd add those for the veteran surfers:
CURRENT MISSION
To find meaningful work, continue travelling, enjoy life with my husband and whatever soul tribe we meet along the way, meditate more and let the wisdom of that permeate my being
PHILOSOPHY
Live and let live and don't forget to follow your heart! Never stop growing, learning and being a better person every day, whatever way you can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I thought this might be a good and hopefully safe way to meet other like-minded, interesting, engaged and progressive citizens of the world in a variety of countries, who we can hopefully stay with during our travels.
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't hosted or been a guest with anyone yet on this site, but hope to do both and meet like-minded individuals
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Because I know so many people all over the world, I've stayed with a few while visiting them and some of them have stayed with me. These are people I've personally known in real life, so it's a bit different from what goes on with this site, but we'll see how it goes on couchsurfing.com...

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all sorts of genres of music, especially IDM, and movies and books that really make you take an unusual perspective on things or otherwise make you think. I really tend to dig mind-blowing films rather than your typical, run of the mill Hollywood blockbuster (although some of them can be good too). The most mainstream types of music I like could probably be represented by artists such Björk and Radiohead, but much of the music I like is made by far from mainstream artists. At the moment I'm enjoying Moderat and Washed Out. For books, I generally like the classics but many other genres as well. Too many to mention here, but I can tell you about it if we meet and you're interested :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once worked in S. America with indigenous youth in developing and implementing an outdoor-based leadership program that incorporated developing skills in the youth's cultural background as well as more modern capabilities. Also, swimming in the tributaries of the Amazon was pretty sweet!
