Über mich
Hello! I’m Indy, and I’m an adventurous, creative individual travelling Asia for the foreseeable future. I’m always looking for new experiences and I will try anything once. I am a very open-minded person and travelling is definitely enhancing my world-view, allowing me to get involved with things I never thought I would get the opportunity to do.
I was raised in the Lake District in the UK, so I grew up around nature, outdoors activities and lots of farms.
I started my journey in Thailand, where I stayed for a month - three weeks of which were spent volunteering at a hostel in Pai, near Chiang Mai. I met loads of amazing people and decided I wanted to keep making new friends and sharing good times.
I explored Taiwan for a while, then went to Tokyo and worked on a few art projects, staying with friends. I am currently in the Japanese countryside, where I have been volunteering to teach English, do renovations, cook and garden in a traditional Japanese guesthouse for a month. From here, I plan to visit Osaka and explore the city.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I enjoy meeting new people and discovering more about culture and ideas from them. I'd like to travel as much as I can, and meet the most interesting individuals. I think Couchsurfing allows me to do that, while letting me also share my own experiences. I think that humans can all learn from one another.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
My music taste is quite varied, as I grew up listening to lots of different music from artists my parents introduced me to. We are a family of music lovers and my Dad is the lead singer in a few "indie rock" bands, so a lot of my taste revolves around that.
A few examples of the artists I have always enjoyed listening to include David Bowie, Dire Straits, The Doors, Gorillaz, Kerosene, Lorde, Metronomy, MGMT, Oasis, Pixies, Pulp, Talking Heads, and many more...
My favourite movies include anything by Studio Ghibli, Wes Anderson. A few favourites are Pulp Fiction, Requiem of a Dream, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Wolf of Wall Street, Fargo, Fight Club, Trainspotting, The Beach, Fear Loathing in Las Vegas, and Holes.
I love reading. My favourite authors are Haruki Murakami, C.S Lewis and Angela Carter. A few of my favourite books are The Magic Toyshop, Kafka on the Shore, Lolita and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I decided to go and travel Asia alone as a last-minute decision, with very little plans, a backpack and an open mind. From that decision, I have made a countless number of friends and learned things I would have never known otherwise . It is truly the best thing I have had the pleasure of doing, and my journey is nowhere near over yet!
Lehren, lernen, teilen
- I have a background in fashion design so I am happy to teach you anything you'd like to know about that!
- I love drawing, painting and creating things. Let's make something together :)
- I am currently learning Japanese, so I could try to teach you a few words (if you do not already speak the language, of course).
- I have plenty of travel stories I can share with you, and I can also teach you about British culture and what I have experienced while travelling and living in other countries.
