About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to see/photograph as much of the world as possible. Along the way, I want to meet as many interesting people with diverse ideas as I can.
ABOUT ME
My name is Dan. I'm 29 years old. I'm kind of a free spirit. I've been bitten by the travel bug in the last year or so. I feel like I've wasted so many years that I could have been out seeing the world. I enjoy the outdoors, specifically, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and landscape photography. I'm a nonconformist at heart. I also enjoy fitness training and playing rugby. I don't know what else to say.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't know yet why I live my life. I guess that's what I'm out there searching for.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to couchsurfing.com, but I've been a participant in the couch surfing community for years, both hosting and surfing. Right now, I don't have a place to host, but I intend to within the year.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I started my couch surfing experience in Aspen, Co. I moved there with little money in my pocket, nowhere to stay, and no friends. I started with a phone number contact from someone on the rugby club. I was taken in by one of the nicest, most giving people I know. He took me in (along with the three other people on his couches) and let me stay for a month and a half until I'd earned enough money to rent a place. the whole time, he would not take payment of any kind. This type of generosity was unheard of to me, and must be repaid. Since that time, I've hosted others who have come to Aspen to snowboard/hang out for the winter. I feel that it's almost necessary in an expensive resort town to help people out on their way into the community. I've also spent the last few months couch surfing my way across the US. Most recently, I'm surfing my sisters couch in exchange for nanny services watching my three year old nephew.

Music, Movies, and Books
I dig indy films and other movies that make you think. I'm not into the eyecandy action films or stupid comedies. I really don't go to movies or watch much tele. I enjoy listening to rock, alternative rock, punk, irish folk, and a little reggae. As far as books go, I like reading social commentary. Authors like Hunter S. Thompson, Howard Zinn, Kalle Lasn, Edward Abbey, Daniel Quinn, Paulo Coelho...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to the 7th continent.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I know a bit about emergency medicine, as I've worked as an EMT for a few years. I've been to Antarctica and worked as a firefighter there, so I could tell people about that. I'd like to learn from people from outside the US as to how they live day to day. I'd also like more about green living.
