PHILOSOPHY

i love the phrase "ichigo ichie." it's Japanese, and it's thought to be derived from samurai tea ceremony culture in early medieval Japan. it means "one time, one meeting," and has to do with the idea that every moment is a unique conflation of disparate events that will never happen the same way twice.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

one time i was in Hawaii, on the big island, exploring Waipi'o Valley with some friends. we had planned to stick to the paved roads, but somebody found an awesome-looking trail off-road and we decided to go down it. two hours of intense Jurassic Park-like jungle-hacking later, we found ourselves at the bottom of a 1,000 ft. waterfall. it was amazing.
