About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Do great work on my PhD project, actively develop myself, learn how to skate
...and still find some time to travel and explore the World:)

ABOUT ME

I'm 26-years old lithuanian (video about Lithuania: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYuP3VDSrQk ). I am very science-orientated person. Loved my BA in Molecular Biology and this is what defines me. Now, using all that knowledge, I have graduated from UCL MSc and tackling the Computational Virus Molecular Biology as my PhD project at lovely and admirable Cambridge, UK.

I'm interested in Astrobiology, Molecular Biology and Computational Biology; also in other Nature Science.
I have danced many years and still love to do that time after time (now, mostly lindyhop and just have started learning elementary ballet). As well I identify myself as orienteering sport fan and (now) amateur at races.

After graduation of music school (violin), I have played in music school amateur group and in city orchestra. Lastly, I have played a violin at Vilnius University chamber orchestra. Now, I sometimes perform at music cafe in Cambridge and join university/college orchestras for some fun time playing.

Heavy drinking, drugs and tobacco - is 100% NOT my thing. I am a tolerant person, but I won't join these activities. But, i am very keen for long talks and walks!:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had some occasions to use a couch in Milano (Italy), Bremen (Germany), Chech, Poland and Paris (France). Already have some people in contact for a couple years who have had visited Lithuania, or I stayed at their places.

Couchurfing for me is as an experience of traveling while staying at home. I do get the point of saving money, but if this is the main drive and
you are from the UK etc - please - do not request.

We want to enjoy a variety of cultures, get to know about other countries, their habits and this is what drives me to stay on couchsurfing. It is better for me if you are from e.g. New Zealand and have time to chat for like an hour, rather something that i am familiar dearly and spending a lot of time with me. Meeting cool people is nice, but having an option to meet cool people from interesting and unexplored places - is amazing, and I am happy to have such an opportunity on Couchsurfing.

Interests

I'm interested in doing science (Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry), the new field of interest is Astrobiology. In addition to that, I would like to explore the world as much as i can nearby my studies.

I'm beginner at rock climbing, swimming and ballet, and lover of running (especially: orienteering). Moreover, I can't imagine my life without a classical music and dancing (from cheer-leading our university basketball team, to Lindyhop in a free time). Really thinking of triathlon.. hmm..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best time of my life was attending Astrobiology conference in Coyhaique, Chilean Patagonia. People I've met there were amazing.
########################################
Yellowstone national park (USA).- my childhood dream.
Jumping out of rocks into the fjord (south of France).
Falling in love with The person, that I will stay for my whole life. Feeling of love and of being loved.

Teach, Learn, Share

Every cell of you has a 2 meters of DNA! Why those cells are so different (your skin cell, liver cell, blood cell)? - this is because of gene regulation: some of them are "off", different of them is "on" :))
Such a nice off and on puzzle.

I am also very enthusiastic to learn French language. I admire all frankophonia - culture and language. I can't speak very well, but if you talk in french - i will be more than happy to just listen for you or your friends. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

The basics of violin could be novel thing for you:)

I am absolutely happy to share my knowledge on biotechnology/ GMOs/ vaccination and etc. I am delighted to have a privilege of education, so do not feel shy to ask and let's discuss all the issues or questions you or your friends have in a nice and calm way:)

--- or simply enjoy long walks and talks in the Nature, City or surrounded by jazz music:)
