About Me

Hello! My name is Michael, I am a vagabond who loves science, nature, art and continual learning. Trying to live a compassionate life. For 2 years after high school I lived and traveled in Germany, and Ethiopia involved in the arts and social justice as well as doing humanitarian work. Currently I am working to save up for welding school. I have Couchsurfed a number of times, although not all through this site, but by people ive met on the road or in town..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing can be a blessing that goes both ways, to the surfer and the host, by exchanging ideas, stories, cultures, beliefs. Couchsurfing is also I feel a great way to bring people together through travel, instead of pushing money into a hotel you get a genuine home and community experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Hawaii for a social justice conference, I got the chance to go hiking through the jungle with some friends that eventually ended up at a 1,000 ft free fall waterfall. Hiking through the jungle for two hours, climbing over huge rock formations and groups, crawling under barbed wire, trekking across river crosses holding your pack over your head because your head is just above the water.. and ending up at this secluded MASSIVE waterfall, with sounds of the rushing water falling to the earth winds that felt like a hurricane, the smell of fresh water and the jungle mixed with a peaceful primordial presence. It was for me a beautiful, healing and spiritual experience, and getting to swim out to that fall and feel the crashing waters over your skin.
