About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit at least one new country every year.

ABOUT ME
I'm a performing artist who now spends a good chunk of the year on tour. I write funny songs and perform them with my comedy country band, The Famous Haydell Sisters. When I'm not on tour I live in Portland, Oregon but I love to travel whenever I can. I'm finally fulfilling a lifelong goal of going to Barcelona at the end of December! I'm just going for vacation and am looking forward to lots of walking around the city, and enjoying lots of good wine and vegan food (I'd love pointers on how to find it!), and working at my Spanish!

I have always wanted to live a life that is not defined by a job. I've finally made it! My work is a beautifully balanced jumble of chaos that spans arts, education, and food. I travel and read books and drink coffee and beer and practice yoga and re-learn dance moves and just generally do stuff. I grew up in the Midwest and I love living in the PNW. I'm vegan, I do NOT play boardgames, I love learning languages but I always read them better than I speak. I spent two years once living out of a car. You can imagine how much karmic hospitality debt I racked up.

PHILOSOPHY

Do it. Do it now!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As someone who has traveled a lot, I've learned that home really is just where your friends are. I love making new homes!

I haven't actually gotten to use Couchsurfing too many times since I joined, but the few times I've stayed and hosted have been lovely experiences. When I've been on tour I've often stayed with friends or friends of friends or folks who volunteered as hosts for whatever festival I was visiting. I know that opening your home to a stranger can be an undertaking, and I strive to honor that gift with respect and appreciation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a lion kill a baby wildebeest in South Africa. It may (or may not) surprise you to hear a vegan say this, but "amazing" is a pretty apt word for what I saw!

Teach, Learn, Share

I cook. I sing, play guitar, and write funny songs. I know little bits of a bunch of languages; I want to learn how to use them more effectively.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook vegan meals and bake delicious vegan treats!
