About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To Live a Life Less Ordinary :)

ABOUT ME

I am a fun-loving mother of two lovely girls. I was home-schooled for much of my early learning years and our family took road trips together, during that time, I caught the travel bug and have not been rid of it since. We have also decided to home school (I prefer to call it "life" school) our girls, and a big part of the reason we are traveling now is for them to experience more of the world and what it's like to live in a different country.

After living the last 8 years in stunningly beautiful bubble of Boulder Colorado, my husband and I decided that it was time to make a change. He is starting work on a project restoring a canal boat for the Wooden Canal Boat Society (www.wcbs.org) in Ashton-under-lyne (near Manchester) England, which is where we will call home for the next year or so. After that we are hoping to take off as a family and cycle tour around the UK/Europe :)

We sold our cars and have made the commitment to commute by bicycle, for the benefit of the environment, our health, and the gift of a slower pace of life.

But we are currently traveling, and are excited to see if there is the possibility to be accepted as a family of 4. We are on our bikes and have camping gear, so all we need is a place to pitch a tent!

PHILOSOPHY

Striving for domestic independence, simple living, sustainability, fiscal responsibility and avoidance of debt, and the re-establishment of the household as a place of wisdom, warmth and culture. Secular Humanist, Pantheist, lover of the principles of the Simplicity Movement.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When we get our own place near Manchester (UK) I would like to rent a 3 bedroom, to have the space in case we can return the favor and accommodate fellow nomads!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All my couch-surfing experiences thusfar have been spontaneous, ie. picked up a hitch-hiker and let them stay the night, or met some people in a bar in Dusseldorf and went back to their place for the night (back when I was a single young traveller!) I love the idea of an organized network of people who are willing to share and love interacting with people, broadening their horizons.

Interests

Everything Positive!, having fun, playing games, exploring, climbing things, sliding down things.
