About Me

I'd like to think I'm a considerate person, respectful of others' space and stuff. Doing outdoorsy stuff interests me these days. I like to hike, kayak, camp, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people of a similar bent (or different!) share stories and make new experiences. I'm on CS because I've officially, albeit fairly recently, gotten the travel bug.

Interests

I love listening to my records, audiobooks/podcasts, cooking from scratch, getting outdoors and getting things done. I grew up with a Renaissance man of a father. He exposed me to TONS of different stuff growing up: archery, woodworking, cross country skiing. Later on I introduced him to a thing or two, like snowboarding and our annual pilgrimage to Mount Bohemia to shred the gnar, as it were :)

Music, Movies, and Books

There's a number of genres of music I'm into classic rock, oldies, some newer folk stuff like Dead Man Winter, Tallest Man on Earth, etc. Some indie stuff like The Shins/Broken Bells, Vampire Weekend, The Dodos.

I don't see enough movies to answer that intelligently but I recently saw Guardians of the Galaxy and loved it! Also, I saw Frances Ha on Netflix and that it was phenomenal. Has anyone else seen the Lego Movie. I frickin loved that. Who could leave out Dumb and Dumber, Almost Heroes (RIP Chris Farley) or Dirty Work..

As far as books.. I'd have to say Bill Bryson's Life and Time of the Thunderbolt Kid or I'm a Stranger Here Myself were great books. Like some bios like The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt were amazing (what a bad ass that guy was). I love me some PJ Wodehouse and his Jeeves books. Sedaris cracks me up.. Me Talk Pretty One Day takes the cake out of all his books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I suppose bungee jumping off the bridge at Victoria Falls between Zambia and Zimbabwe was, to date, my most amazing feat. There was a friggin' rainbow right there for crying out loud.

Teach, Learn, Share

As I mentioned, I love podcasts/audiobooks and turning folks on to great shows and stuff they might like. Same goes for online tools/resources in general.

I'm pretty savvy with photography and photoshop. Also, I fancy myself a spreadsheet ninja - always game to share a few tips there. I'd imagine this community is already hip to stuff like Google Voice (free phone calls from PC).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I could certainly bring some fresh ingredients and try to cook something tasty. I clean up after myself and generally like to leave any place better than it was before.
