About Me
My name is ioana, with small i, not Loana! But ofc I respect myself and I capitalize the first letter :D
I never know what to write in this section.................
Long story short, I am striving to become a young web dev!
I started my journey for this matter earlier this year, in January, when I made a decision to move to Copenhagen to study Multimedia Design and Communication. I studied in Romania Computer Science for a year and a half but the studies were too theoretical so I felt the need for something more. Therefore, I moved to Copenhagen and I started hosting on CS in September 2017 for the first time!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My travel journey began some years ago, when I went alone for the first time to an international camp in the US. After that, I had been out and about whenever I found time - traveling for a weekend to different countries or meeting up with internationals, all through CS. I live through people and I have always been in a continuous search of cultural change and curiosity, thus my being here :D
CS was different last year and definitely more enjoyable. I traveled 2 months only with CS and tenting (tent + camping, I guess :/). I didn't pay a dime on accommodation, as I traveled on a low budget. It wasn't about the money - it was about the fact that we could share experiences with locals, eat with them, share stories about our cultures and create bonds.
Couchsurfing definitely made me more aware of the world yet to be discovered around me and I made (I am still making) use of it, as it's a great way to meet up people who share the same interests as you.
As I moved to Denmark without my family, it's my time of glory to host people! I am not looking forward to the message requests that lack customization, nor to the people only in search of free accommodation, but on the other hand I AM looking forward to the ones that really understand the spirit of meeting locals (oh, wait, I am not a local anymore..) and sharing stories and personal experiences!
I tried it, I liked it, I already befriended with a lot of people and I won't stop here, so... beware!
Interests
This year added a new interest to my portfolio of interests (a big book...) which is programming. I wouldn't say I'm a nerd but the others would, so I don't know what to think.. Heheheh
I love puns and jokes related to the language, as I think it's an awesome tool for being in control of and manipulating the words you're using. If you want to have my attention, don't yell "ATTENTION!!!" from the top of your lungs. Make a pun and I'll be all ears :P
I'm not only interested in, but much more curious about the things that I don't know anything about, such as.. the things that I do not know anything about, right?

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Indie, Alternative, Punk, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Electronic, Electro Swing, Classical
Movies: everything that's mindfcuk
I also like the ones related to technology and how it changes our minds, lives and perception (Westworld, some episodes of Black Mirror e.g.)
Books: The Divine Child (Bruckner), Blindness (Saramago), The Stranger (Camus), To Kill a Mockingbird (H. Lee)
I used to be (and still am actually) a fan of Stephen King, but now I shifted my focus to other types of books (related to the world we live in and how we live it)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
🚗 hitchhiked 5652 km on my first big hitchhiking trip through 10 countries!! 🏁
The greatest step forward I took was last year's hitchhiking trip (my first big CS experience). Traveling for almost two months through 10 countries with the house on my back(pack) - like a snail - was one of the highlights of my life as it opened my eyes to see more than meets the eye. I experienced camping with scorpions (JK, as soon as I saw the scorpion I unpacked my tent in less than a second), living in a van, bathing in natural parks and also waking up next to a half a meter long rifle right next to my tent....... not funny......
🍽️ dumpster dived through deep waters!
One of the best ways to save money while in Denmark was dumpster diving and I have to say it even became a hobby going every night to the supermarket and even meeting people there (not the cleanliest place to meet new people but who cares? We share the same interest, so we can be friends even in the darkest (literally) places)
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach & share: things I know
Learn: things I don't know
Obviously, huh?
Teach:
🏊 swimming
💻 programming
🥒 eating (I like pickles)
🐶 petting dogs
What I Can Share with Hosts
Of course the first thing I share with hosts is my time (which is, basically, well.. mine) so if I share it with you, it does mean that you are important and I am interested in meeting and getting to know you. I am looking forward to meeting lots of people because this is the way I learn and grow! (and by eating and sleeping)
I will share the course of my life with you if you do the same :D sharing is caring, even if this sharing is not about food (you can share the food with me though, I don't mind at all)
Therefore, I'll share my time, my food (if I share my food with you, that means you're awesome), my passions, some warm clothes on a rainy day (if they fit you - I am short) and, other than that, goodwill and lots and lots of smiles and positive energy (⚡)!
